HIV Surveillance in Kenya

Welcome to the Kenya National HIV and STI Programme (NASCOP) HIV Surveillance Dashboards. NASCOP is committed to providing timely and comprehensive HIV and STI surveillance data to support the country in achieving HIV and STI epidemic control. To this end, and in line with the countries Kenya AIDS Strategic Framework, NASCOP’s Strategic Information, Research and Innovation (SIRI) unit spearheads strategic information activities including establishing surveillance systems, conducting surveys, implementation research and health evaluations. This website provides visualization and dissemination of data from different surveillance systems led by NASCOP. We currently provide data from the HIV case-based surveillance system as well as HIV recency surveillance. Each surveillance system has achieved different levels of coverage and complexity. The details of each system are discussed in the system specific pages. We plan on gradual expansion, with additional surveillance systems coming on board. NASCOP will continue to improve on availability, data quality and increased use of these data to support decision makers and inform HIV programming in the country. Users are encouraged to reach out to us with any questions, feedback or assistance they may require. Karibuni!

Recency

HIV Recency Surveillance involves the identification and reporting of newly diagnosed HIV infected persons whose infection is determined to be a recent HIV infection rather than a long standing one.
