Data Sources, Collection & Management
The Kenya CBS system is designed to get data from different sources that capture information on HIV infected persons. The current system gets sentinel events data from:
- Health facilities – Electronic medical records(EMRs) and paper-based records
- Laboratory databases
- Pharmacy databases
- Vital statistics registries
- Other databases that may have information on HIV positive individuals
The roll out of the CBS system data collection and management is being undertaken using a phased approach, with the current phase targeting data collected in health facility EMRs and paper records.
The CBS servers and databases are hosted at NASCOP data center. Data collected through the CBS system is the property of Kenya MOH and analysis made on this data is available on the CBS dashboards.
